PLU Moisture Honey Sugar Facial Scrub; Not Safe?! | Review

A quick introduction first, hi there, it's Katrissa and if you don't know, I am from the Philippines and now I'm residing here in California, USA. In the Philippines, we do not get the 4 seasons, what we usually get is summer and rainy seasons. Moving from a country that is almost hot and humid to a place that has summer, fall, and winter made my skin crazy! Yes CRAZY! Before, when I am still living in the Philippines my skin is oily! And now, here in California, my skin is DRY! Who else had this experience? Changing skin condition from oily to dry? Comment below, share your thoughts!

Enough of the ramblings, and let's talks about this Moisture Honey Sugar Facial Scrub! What is this PLU Moisture Honey Lemon Sugar Facial Scrub and why it might not be safe? 
First of lets talks about PLU. Plu is a skincare brand from Korea, that produces mainly Skin-Care Scrubs and exfoliants. They do not only focus on facial care but they also have scrubs for the body. They produce different types of scrubs for different types of skin too. The PLU "facial care" line have different Scrub variants like Peach, Berry Mix, Prestige Silk, Hazelnut, Coconut, Apple, etc.. Every variant has different effect and purpose, check them out to choose a specific item for your needs. Here's a LINK to the full collection of their line.

PRODUCT/CLAIMS:

The PLU Moisture Honey Sugar Facial Scrub is suitable for sensitive skin because of its gentle exfoliation using sugar bits. The specific use for this product is for light exfoliation, skin brightening, and moisturization.

Some of its CLAIMS are the following:

-Sugar facial scrub for skin exfoliating, moisturizing and brightening

-Sucrose and Honey Extract Contained

-Skin Stimulation tested: Low stimulation confirmed

-Hypoallergenic

-Clear and Moist Skin

NOW, Why did I say in my title that it might not be safe? Here's why, before using a product it is a must to read the ingredients very well, as well as the directions for application and the precautions. It is my first time to read a skin care with a warning line "The safety of this product has not been determined" (See image below.). How would we even know if its safe right? In trying out products, our skin is on the line just to produce a good and honest review to our readers for them to determine whether they will buy an item or not. Product reviews are now a part huge of determining and decision making for buyers. I am actually skeptical and a bit scared to use this at first but still I tried it to deliver a full review of the product, read on to the effects for my full review.

As advertised by the product itself, it is a Honey "Lemon"Sugar facial scrub. It is not determined if this brand is cruelty-free or not or if the product is organic. Here's the full list of ingredients used in this product:

Ingredients: 

Glycerin. Sucrose, Butylene Glycol, Mineral oil, Silica, Sorbitan Stearate, Polysorbate 60, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Dimethicone, PEG 40 Hydrogenated Caster oil, Honey Extract, Punica Granatum Fruit Extract, Rosa Hybrid Flower Extract, Prunus Serrulata Flower Extract, Chrysanthemum Morifolium Flower Extract, Hippophae Rhamnoides Fruit oil Fragrance, Phenoxyethanol, Disodium EDTA, Ethhexylglycerin

Main Ingredients:

- Sugar/Glycerin

Used as exfoliator beads, this is for the light exfoliation benefits of this product. It is also a good natural product to use as an exfoliator as it melts on the skin upon application and not rough on the skin.

- Honey Extract

Sooth and moisturize is the main purpose of this specific ingredient. It is a natural product with antibacterial elements to which is good to prevent and treat acne.

- Shea Butter

Moisturization! Shea butter is the best ingredient to add moisture to the skin without clogging the pores.

- Dimethicone

Silicones are widely used on skin care and makeup. This ingredient is used to make the skin smooth and flawless looking. It might not be a safe/natural product but if it only a little product then it might not hurt the skin right?

- Flower Extracts

While there's a dimethicone ingredient for smoothening benefits, this product also has flower extracts which are mainly for skin smoothening. They should have prevented using dimethicone and just used these flower extracts for it to be a natural product.

TEXTURE/APPLICATION:

As I said earlier, this PLU Facial scrub has a whipped gel type consistency which is a usual texture for scrubs. This scrub has light brown color, well almost yellow color to it with somehow a clear sugar bits/beads to it. It has a thick consistency yet soft to touch. It does not have big sugar bits which might be abrasive to the skin, but it has a consistent size of sugar beads that are soft to use for the skin.

Here's an application direction:

1. Wet the skin with warm water

2. Apply scrub to the face

3. Gently massage the product into the skin except for the eye area

4. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water

Mini Review: 🍋This is a mild scrub which is still exfoliating and really good for those who have dry and sensitive skin like me. ❤️ 🍋The natural products really helps the skin to improve its state from dry to moisturized. The feel of the scrub is like a gel type incredient with sugar. The sugar serves as mild scrub and it gets dissolved while rubbing circular motion to the face. 🍋It has a pretty strong smell but still manageable smell. I left the skin soft and supple to touch. It is effective as to what its meant to do and lives up to the expected claims and results. 🍋The only thing I did not like from this product is even though it is sealed, on the first pump of the product nothing comes out and its like halfway empty.

But now I am ready to share with you a FULL REVIEW of the product:

PROS:

1. As I said on my first impression, this is a mild scrub but still a good exfoliant for dry and sensitive skin.

2. Upon application of the product on the damp skin, this scrub gives a feeling of a gel type texture/feeling. The sugar bits has helped in removing off dry skin flakes on the skin, the sugar also melts to the skin which adds hydration to the skin.

3. The honey ingredient in this scrub might be the one capable of producing the soft and creamy texture of the product. While using this product, it gives the skin warmth and a somewhat "oil film" to the skin, but the oil film quickly reduces upon washing the face with warm water.

4. After using the product, it leaves the skin "clean and fresh" feeling. You can also feel that the dry patches are gone and also some protruding whiteheads/blackheads were reduced.
5. The skin is soft and supple to touch after using. It does exfoliate and nourishes the skin but the "moisturization" part is questionable.

CONS:

1. After washing the face, this leaves the skin a "squeaky clean" feeling. It says that is "Moisturizing"  but somehow it dries the skin out a bit. If you have oily skin, then you might love this.

2. This one is "Lemon" scented, the scent is actually quite strong when you use it to scrub your face, but when it is mixed with water, the scent slightly diminishes but still there.

3. Last but not the least is that when I received this product, the cap was sealed and all but somehow upon squeezing the product out of the tube for the first time, nothing comes out and its like it is only half full which is disappointing.
